My Industrial Decor Planter Make-Over

Hello. Hope you had a great weekend with loved ones. We drove down to meet the hubby for a weekend at the cabin. Living apart has been tough on everyone, especially the kids. But, we seem to make the most of our 2 days with him. I am literally counting the days till the end of June, when we move. Hurry up June! One thing we have decided on for our new home, is the decor. We both are drawn to the industrial look. Rustic wood finishes mixed with metals. Throw in a few mid century pieces of furniture and call it a day. So, I've set to creating some decor. I posted earlier my 6-easy-industrial-decor-diy-ideas, which I will be starting soon. Since I went and bought some more succulents this week {btw-I am obsessed with succulents), at the best greenhouse eva! I needed a new planter.

It actually isn't that bad of a before item. $2 at the community thrift store. Score! I used Rustoleum Mat Black spray paint.

First coat. Key to using spray paint, a couple thin coats are better than one thick running/dripping coat.

Turned out perfect, and I had the paint left over from another project. So, cheap to make too!

Blue Echeveria

I did some quick research when I was at the greenhouse for pet friendly succulents. Selection was small, but I really like this gem. Thanks for stopping by.

Just a Fish in the Sea

Hello. TGIF, right? It has been an emotional roller coaster week for my family and I. We finally received and accepted an offer on our house. I have been kicked out of my home more times than I can count in the last 3 months, sometimes till 9 pm. We had reduced once, and were considering again. If you have sold before, you know the anxiety that comes with listing and selling your home. But the good news is we have a conditional sale, conditions released next week, and possession June 29. Yup, less than a month away. It's not so bad, half of our belongings are in a storage unit in Saskatoon already. And I think we have one large load left. I am beyond excited to move and live with hubby again, and work on starting our lives in a new city. Here's to new adventures. Last night we looked at 53 houses online together. 53!!!! And narrowed it down to 6. Unfortunately our top 3 went sale pending the day before. Hubby did go look at the other 3, but the pictures were deceiving. lol. So, back to the drawing board. Bright side is, we're moving to the lake for the summer until we find a home. That gives me almost 3 months, and our realtor seems optimistic. I guess fingers crossed for now. To sum it up, I'm feeling like a fish in the sea

Hi Stella {our black cat}

A{my oldest daughter} and I came across these 2 fishies in our community thrift store. Prices were marked $4 each. Yikes! I think I could of bought these things new for that price. L insisted we get them for the cabin, and we could make them pretty. Upon paying, the kind lady looked at the price tag and my daughter, and told us $4 for both. L's eyes lit up, and a big smile creeped across her face. She knows, nothing is better than getting a deal.

I took them in the back yard and gave them a coat of Rustoleum Spray Paint in Mat White. Easy make-over by this gal. Perfect.

 My summer goal is to relax with the kids and make our cabin a home. Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend.

10 more sleeps...but who's counting?

Where has the time gone. Is it just me or does December fly by? I have about 8 pieces lined up for my magic, but no time.

I really have a thing for these end tables. I can't believe how ugly different they look before and after {i forgot to take a before}. If you look at my previous posts, you'll get the picture. I used Caribe by Behr, Ralph Lauren Glaze in Tobacco, and sprayed the handles with Oil Rubbed Bronze. . If you haven't used Oil Rubbed Bronze from Rustoleum, YOU BETTER GET A CAN! This stuff is magic.

When we first moved in, everything was gold.

Took off the gold plates and sprayed them with the Oil Rubbed Bronze, just like new. Saved us over a $100 per door, our house has 4 of these locks! That is huge savings, not including every other gold decor in my house. I've also seen this used with silver or brushed nickle spray paint.
Take care!
