Pinterest Inspiration Thursday #4

Good Morning. Hope your week is going swell and fast. My week flew by. We're heading out on another ski trip this weekend, and Friday afternoon can't come fast enough.
I kicked off my first Linky Party this week. I'll be honest, I was a little nervous no one would show up. I tried a technique that has worked in introducing me to new blogs...sending an invite (via comment) to share a post. It always works on me, and I find amazing blogs from the invites. I guess karma works, cause I have posts on my Linky Party (insert jumping up and down)!

On Pinterest this week, I'm trending Home Decor. We've been living in this house for just over a year, and my walls are still pretty bare. I'll be honest, my husband does most of the decorating :) Seriously. My construction man has an eye for decor. When I went to Toronto this fall, I came back to my mirror wall installed. I had sent him a picture of one off of Pinterest, months before.

Then he rounded up all my odd gold mirrors, and filled the living room wall. I receive sooo many compliments on it, and I just grin when I tell them who did it.
 Here's what mine looks like.

I love a good old gold ornate mirror. Say that 3 times fast.

On to my Pins for the week. This is a collection of Decor that I plan on making or obtaining.

This comes from Cindy at cottage instincts. I think I would spell our family name down the center. What word would you use?

I love this next one.

You have to check out her tutorial on dish stacking. What an art form. This is posted by Yvonne at stone gable blog

I've already started to collect my silver platters for this one.

I also grabbed a few of these vases today. I'm gonna get the kids to do this one. 2 for 1, keep them busy and tackle a DIY for me. Win/win for me :)

Thank you for the inspiration Jamie @ anderson and grant.

Well those were my fav Pins for the week. You should see some of these showing up in the near future.

Until next time, take care.

Headboard Chalk Board DIY

Happy Monday!! Well not really. It's still freezing here, and I'm dreaming of the sun. It always makes me jealous when I see other bloggers photos with green grass and flowers in the back ground. I WISH! I have tried to convince my husband to no avail that we should move to nicer weather. Sadly, its not happening anytime soon:(

Back in December I came across this great post by createinspireme. She had turned an old headboard into a DIY chalk board. I had one of these bad boys sitting in my furnace room. Picked it up a year before hoping to refinish it for my oldest, but she changed her mind.

Here's my finished Chalk Boards. I smile that I got 2 from 1. Doesn't everyone love BOGO's?

I had the knobs saved and added some Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze. My fav stuff.

If you like this DIY, please vote for me here by clicking my photo on the East Coast Creative. Check out their blog, really cool projects!. Mine is way at the bottom #210. I would love to make the team!!

Thanks for stopping in and take care. {or stay warm if you are living up North}

Graphite Tables

Hello. Hope your enjoying your Sunday. It's kinda cold out here at minus -26 C (-15 F). Which I guess really isn't that bad, but I'm done with winter. I think I've hit that point in the winter, when I've just had enough! I want to paint in day light hours, be able to take fab pictures anytime and not have to rush home after work to get natural light. {anyone use photographers lights?those big circle ones?}
Anywho, I wanted to showcase a set that was brought to me from far away, 6 hours to be precise. I wish I had taken before pics, but I never seem to remember. That should have been my New Years resolution.

What do you think? I painted these with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Graphite. I was hoping for a more richer black... but loved the slate color. I used 2 coats of Annie Sloan ark Soft Wax.

When painting, I used random direction strokes to built lots of grooves. This way I could work the dark wax into all the lines and crevices.

I just love the profile of these babes!

I tried turning the window in this one. I love to paint, but have no experience in photography.

Vintage Pail

Hello. Happy Friday! I'm feeling a quite a bit under the weather, so I decided to take it easy and play with my camera. Peek-a-boo! Can you see me?

I love this vintage pail. I grabbed it from an antique mall in Edmonton over a year ago. This little gaffer has been resting in my spare bedroom on a shelf. No purpose for a year. Isn't that crazy? It's perfectly dirty, a little white paint spots all over. Nice green handle. Could probably use a little rust? But otherwise, perfect.
I've been observing other furniture photos, trying come up with ideas for better furniture pics. I will be introducing more props in my photos, or staging. You'll be seeing this man of steel around more often.

Pinterest Inspiration Thursday #3

Hello. Hope all my Canadian friends had a fantastic Family Day long weekend! We're back from our ski trip. While we were in Fernie, it dumped over 12 inches of snow. For us skiers, that is {EPIC}! Unfortunately with grocery shopping and laundry when we came back, I have not been able to start any projects. I was able to Pin during our 24 hours of driving! Yay! (at least I stayed awake, I usually fall asleep just out of the drive)

First Pin, which is going to be a near future project.

I love chevron stripes!! Now to find the perfect muse.

Another future project...I'm thinking a towel holder at the lake. Maybe in a nice ocean turquoise? our local Re-Store has old bi-folds cheap.

Also for the lake, an outdoor chandelier with solar lights. How cool? I want to take an old umbrella holder ,and put a plant holder hook at the end. Voila! and I could have a gorgeous chandelier over our picnic table. Or maybe by the campfire? Check out leahglass, for more.

These are my favs for the week. Hopefully you have found some inspiration.

You can follow me here on Pinterest!

Thank you and take care.

Pinterest Inspiration Thursday #2

Hello. Valentines is tomorrow! I'm kinda pinked out right now, and decided to post my romantic pins from Pinterest. I have been loving this clock. When I find the perfect one...watch out bedazzler!

Unfortunately there is no back link for his gem.

Next. This gorgeous light switch plate.

Again, no back link. But I think I would do this myself. {future project}

Lastly, a relaxing bath.

I really want to make a cedar bench for my en suite soaker tub. {one more to-do}

Hope you enjoyed my Romantic Pins.

Thank you and take care.

In Search of Fresh Powder

I am so excited! Today, we are off to Fernie, BC. Time of departure is in 4 hours. The snow cast says up to a foot of fresh powder. I just giggle inside when others post how they can't wait for flowers and grass to grow. I can't wait for deep fresh snow.

This is the quaint town of Fernie, BC. Gosh how I wish we could pick up and move there. One day....

I wanted to share a few pics from our trip in December, to Jasper, AB. I love a good cup of coffee in the early hours + I'm Canadian = Tim Hortons

Have you ever seen a more pristine coffee shop?

This is Marmott Basin, which is the ski hill in Jasper, from the top. That's my youngest down by the sign.

Here's a few of myself and Family, taking selfies :) The first photo was our family pic in Christmas Cards this year.

Photo bombed from the back :(

Dad giving advice.

My oldest stuck in some deep snow.

I don't normally share family pictures, but in lew of this trip, I haven't had time for projects this week. Here in Alberta, Canada, we are celebrating Family Day this weekend. I couldn't imagine a better way to spend my Family Day!
What would you do on Family Day?

Thank you and take care!

Steel Grey 9 Drawer Brute

Hello. Happy Saturday. I love sleeping in and reading a book in the morning. As opposed to weekday mornings, gym at 5:30 am and work at 7:30. So yes, I fully enjoy the two mornings a week that I get to sleep in.

I finished up this gem yesterday, and I am loving the grey tone I mixed up. I had a little bit of Paris Grey from Annie Sloan Chalk Paint left, so I added some Behr White latex and a smidge of Graphite from ASCP. Painted the first coat, but it seemed a bit to light for my liken. I added in some more Graphite to make it darker and voila! Kind of a steel grey, very masculine.

Here's my fav close up. You can see the lighter tone peeking through, and the rich dark brown. I wish I had a before picture.

Great view from up top.

Petite curvy feet.

The handles I found in my bag of extras. At Christmas when my Mom came down, she brought me a bag of handles that she had been collecting all year for me. Your the BEST Mom! These handles were gold, so I gave them a blast of Rustoleum Spray Paint in Matt Black. I used some Annie Sloan Soft Wax to buff them up. I like the look. They kinda look like country farm handles.

My oldest daughter tried to claim this one. I will take that as a compliment.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures. I'm sorry it wasn't much of a tutorial. As a matter of fact, I don't think the pictures would have been that great. I did most of my painting between 8-11 pm. Really poor light at this time of year.

Thank you and take care.

Stepping Up My Guest Bathroom

This year, we will have more friends and family staying at our house. Just because! So I wanted to step up my guests' experience. I want them to feel at home. My hubby has made me promise that I will wait for major changes to the guest room, until he is done his night courses in spring.

I started with a little staining of the oak trim, you can see here. I would like to refinish the doors on the cabinets. I'm not a big fan of the rounded profile doors, so I found a fix. Not sure on the color yet.

Maybe I'll keep them white, with a fresh coat.

I saw this idea on Pinterest. I managed to rummage up these items in one stop at Good Will for less than $5.

I hate it when your staying at someones house, and you forget to bring q-tips. Problem solved for my guests.

Some extra toiletries. I read on Pinterest, to collect samples from hotels. And that's what I've been doing on our ski trips this winter. I usually bring our own shampoo and conditioner, etc. I also put in some other samples {and items my family doesn't like} oops. Is that bad? The products are good, just not for us.

I love these serving trays. Perfect for storing jewelry and watches at bed time. You could even empty your change onto it?

Lastly, I placed this right outside of the shower. This way if you forget, it's a quick reach! Hope you find some useful ideas for your bathroom or the one for guests.

Thank you and take care.
