I started off wiping the tables down with T.S.P, I couldn't believe the years of grime that were washed away. Once dry, I painted a coat of paint. {for mixing, I use the 1:1.5 ratio paint:water} I find on dark colors, this works. But I was painting a vanity white, and the color was soooo see-through. After first coat dried----> which is super speedy, I put the second coat on. Next day after work, I lightly distressed both tables and waxed with Miss Mustard Seed Clear Wax. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! I smells great and goes on easy. I have tried Minwax, but found it harder to work with.
For some reason, I always forget to do my handles. In the before picture, do you notice the problem? One handle was broken. "Lucky" for me, I had another similar set. I gave them a good scrub and a fresh coat of Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze. Good as new!
Perfectly aged end tables. Next time, I'll skip the bonding agent, and let her chip away!

Hugs,

OH Suzan, you do not know what your missing. It's just as easy as ASCP, but a ton more color depth. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteLooks really good. I love those 70's pieces of furniture. Great color!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon. The detail in the vintage furniture is amazing.I also have a thing for 70's furniture.
DeleteVery nice! I saw one of these beauties at the thrift store this past weekend... I might be going back!

Thank you Megin. Will do!
DeleteLove the colour you chose! I have tried milk paint before, but never the bonding agent...it's on my list to purchase!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cynthia. One tip about bonding agent, I only use a table spoon and it never flakes. I find that if you want it to chip, there is no midpoint....not sure. And I have used only a tsp in 1/2 c of paint.
DeleteAMAZING! LOVE the color!
ReplyDeleteThanks Monica!
DeleteForgive me for saying this~ I wouldnt have never given that end table a second glance in wood~ but what a makeover you have given it!
ReplyDeleteIt look awesome!
No offense taken. That is why I love these ones, they are always sitting there still. Lol:)
DeleteVery cute table Tabatha. Love the color and the distressing is just right!
