6 Week Pinterest Challenge - week 1

I'm feeling refreshed after a great weekend in the mountains. Sad to say I totally missed my first week of the 6 Week Pinterest Challenge, so here I am starting late. You can check out my ideas here.

I decided to start on my chevron mailbox first. An easy project and since I'm on holidays this week for spring break with my minions, my oldest could help.

Here's my before. Not too bad for most, but not my style.

I set my oldest to paint the base coat. I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, close to Paris Grey. I'm sure I tinted this can a bit darker.

This was her first coat, I think I may have to touch up a few spots. Quicker to touch up, then do my self. So no complaints to her.

I wish I would have taken a picture with my graph, but you can check out this post by Mommy is Coo Coo. I did the same thing. Drew a graph and connect the lines to make stripes. Super easy. After I painted the white on (by hand with a small brush), I touch up the grey over any remaining pencil marks. Easy peasy.

Here is my before and after.

I'm thinking our house numbers on the front, or a monogram M. Decisions?

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy the rest of your day.

Party time!

Emperor's Silk Makeover

Happy Friday. We're off on our last ski trip for the year, and I have to share this piece before I pack everything up. I love the look of Annie Sloan's Emperor's Silk, it's the perfect red. Bright and crisp, without looking poppy or orange. Here are the pictures that were sent from the owner. Pretty average. Nice lines, great potential.

I sanded all over lightly, but by the looks of the top it was already roughed up. Then set to painting the chalk paint on. I used 3 coats all over, to make sure I achieved the bright red.

After it was all dry, I gave a light sand and applied Miss Mustard Seed's wax. I love the cream texture and velvet feel. I used a couple of black knobs I had to snap the pic, but would really love to see gold knobs. Of course using my fav product by Amco, Rub'n Buff in Gold leaf. You can check out my tutorial here. Super easy to use.

I think it turned out great.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!

Party Time.

Pinterest Inspiration #7

Hello, how's your Thursday? I feel like I'm running late all week. Next week I'm home with my kidlets for spring break, and I can't wait. I'm hoping to catch up on some work at home, paint up a few more pieces and get organized on my blog. This week I was inspired by lighting, partially because we are replacing the one in my dining room. These were my favorites from Pinterest.

I pinned this, but couldn't find the original source :( Sorry. The picture is pretty straight forward. I'm thinking this would be a great idea for my front sitting room, in front of the window. Energy efficient, and no cords needed.

I think this is the lamp that inspired me most this week! Check out Kelly @ the lilypad cottage. She has beautiful pieces.

Nothing like old bucket lighting. I think I may have another project for my hubby. (I couldn't find the original source for this)

How cool is this one? The lady who created this closed her blog....boo. It looks easy enough to make.

Wish I had these. Uploaded by organizeyourstuffnow. I'm sure these were costly, but could totally be recreated on a budget.

Lastly, this brute off of Haute Look. Missed that deal. I love that site!

Hope you enjoyed my light inspiration. Can't wait to share our finished redo for my dining room light. Its been 2 months in the making. Thanks for stopping by and take care.

Chic By You Wednesday Link Party #5

Good day to you. Happy Wednesday. It snowed up a storm here last night, it's definitely a lion year. I have been so busy painting and re-doing rooms in our house, I forgot to post the Party yesterday. Won't happen again, I hope.

Features from last week.

I love the cedar chest and sideboard Victoria @ victorias vntg dsgns. You received the most clicks, crowd favorite!

Darrielle @ dds cottage found these cane chairs. They look perfect the way they are, too bad you didn't get a chance to re-do them. I love your projects!

Campaign Makeover

Second one down {of many}. I'm going to start by saying how much I love campaign pulls. They scream elegant yet modern style.

I wish I had a better 'after' picture, but it sold before I could move it inside. If you look closely at the bottom right hand corner. Do you see the metal decor missing. I had to choose, remove the other side or make one. My husband said 'make one!' so that's what he did. I think it turned out awesome, and you can't notice the difference. You can see my post here, on how to use Amcos rub'n buff.

I love the stuff and it's so easy to apply. It's really my go to product.

The red and gold compliment each other well. Now, onto the next project. Thanks for stopping in and take care.

One Small Project at a Time

One down.

Started out like your typical honey colored coffee table.

I re-stained the top with Varathane Gel Stain, you can check out my tutorial here. Then I primed the base with Kilz Premium. I had a Behr mix paint in my paint cabinet, pretty close to French Linen from Annie Sloan. I really love grey, but feel like I don't try anything else. This is my baby step away from grey.

I finished it off with Minwax Wipe on Polyurethane. Nice and easy. Thanks for stopping by, take care.

Pinterest Inspiration #6

Hello. It's Thursday, it's almost the weekend {in my cracked singing voice}. I love my job, but I live to sleep in on the weekend. I have quite a few projects I want to tackle this weekend and wrap up. I've kinda took over my husbands Man Cave Garage, and facing eviction again. That means time to work these painting hands and get some projects moving.

My second goal this weekend is to do some marathon Pinning. My GF at work is beating me by 800, and she doesn't even try. Granted she Pins mostly food and crafts, and I have a much narrower window for my taste. So while she is in Hawaii for 2 weeks, I want to surprise her and catch up!! LOL. Keeping in mind that I still want wholesome Pins. My work is laid out. If I Pin while paint dries and every other moment I have, I just might pass her!

Here are my favorite Pins this week! Some reflect upcoming projects.

1. How easy would this be to make from plant holders. A little paint and patina?

2. You must check out this post by saved by love creations. I have a few yardsticks in the garage. I'm thinking the lamp shade first. Which one would you try?

3. I wish I could find one of these for my front sitting room.

4. I would really like to make this mug for work! I'm always trotting around with a coffee in the morning. Way too cute.

5. My new drink for Spring. I'll let you know how it tastes. Doesn't that look like a treat for you mouth.

Lastly, how I want my spring wardrobe to look! Totally fab for warm weather.

Thanks for stopping by, you can follow me on Pinterest HERE. Take care and keep Pinning.

6 Week Pinterest Challenge

Hello. Hope your feeling ambitious? I think I am. Megin over at vmg206 is challenging her readers to a Pinterest Challenge. Pick 6 Pins this week that you will commit to make over the next 6 weeks. Every week post a picture of the Pin and your project! Super easy.

I love to Pin, but don't really follow through with them. I have decided all of my projects will benefit my home or that I would really love to make. Warning- I may not follow this order.

1. Arrow Sign- I'm going to do this with dollar store signs. Cheap DIY.
2. Puppy Bed- I have a vintage octagon table I have been saving for this project. Cali will love it!
3. Bedazzled Light Switch Plate- Do I have to say more?
4. Door Mat Decor- Spray painted door mat. Very Chic.
5. Chevron Mailbox- Wait till you see mine right now.
6. Lake Sign- I'm thinking I'll grab a door from the Re-Store and get started. I have a close friend that would love this!

I think I'll have my work cut out for me. Wish me luck!

Thanks for stopping by and take care.

Pinterest Inspiration #6

Hello. This day 6 years ago my youngest minion was born, and our lives have been a whirlwind since. She is a witty, sarcastic, happy go lucky kid. You will always find her in the cul de sac in colorful clothes, cowboy boots and a purse hanging off her shoulder crammed to the top. I can't count the number of scrapes and bandaids we have gone through with her. She brings humor to everyone.

This was taken in fall.

This is her, on our way to get furniture. Ha Ha. Just kidding. She's going to school like that. Yup. I'm sure her kindergarten teacher wonders what she'll show up in everyday. That's how she wears headbands.

In the spirit of her 6th Birthday, I'm choosing pieces full of life.

I love Union Jack furniture, especially ones that are vibrant.

Very leprechauny. Just made up my own word.

My youngest and I  {love} coral!

OMG. So regal.

Perfect for a little girls room.

Hope you enjoyed my colorful Pins. Thanks for stopping by and take care.
