Coffee Table Make-Over #2

So, I haven't had much luck with this coffee table. Do you ever paint a piece and look at it for a bit then think 'naw not the right color'. I had one of those times.

I found the table in the basement looking all sad and orange.

First color choice. You can check out the post here. Meh. Looks ok. Plain. Neutral. Not really my style.

Nope. Not my favorite piece. Since I had some Duck Egg Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in the cupboard, why not try that.

Much better. Not sure if I will part with this one. Don't know where I'll put it, but I likey.

I am loving Duck Egg right now. Perfect color for the lake or to freshen up the house.

How many projects have you re-done?

Chic By You Wednesday Link Party #7

Smells like spring, and snow is melting. Garage sale season is falling upon us. I have my bills in hand and waiting for the first sign! Can't wait. Do people create lists for items they are looking for? I can never seem to remember all the ideas I have. Perhaps I'll start my wish list.

On to the features of the week. The crowd pleasers are,

1. Thanks you for sharing Home Sweet Home Decor on Coastal Charm. What a charming shop.

2. I will be on the hunt for a 7-Up crate to recreate this vignette. Very rustic from Tania @ littlevintagecottage.

DIY Lamp Shade - spray painting a lamp, using chalk paint on a lamp shade, painting a lamp

3. Very easy make-over. Go check out Vintage Paint and More, and say 'hi' to Cathy.

4. Darrielle @ D.D.'s Cottage and Design has shared another fab design. I am a huge fan of your site!

And my favorite from Sharon @ Elizabeth and Co. I am a sucker for coral, 100%.

Thank you everyone that shared their great projects on Chic By You. Lets get this party going!!

Duck Egg Side Board for Easter Dinner

Hello. I wanted to squeeze in this post before we leave for the weekend to my in-laws. I had a client contact me to have a side board re-done. She really likes the over distressed look, which isn't my forte. Thank goodness she put her trust in me, because the piece turned out fabulous. Unfortunately the hardware is not on, as they're still drying on my garage floor. And I'm pretty sure I won't be able to lug this out to take a picture before she comes next week. So here it is. Ready for her to show off at Easter Dinner!

I actually had two firsts with this side board.
1. Over distressing (baby steps, next time I will do more)
2. Using Duck Egg Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan

I love the tone.

Lots of extra distressing.

Before and after.

Hope you liked my first Duck Egg project. I think you might see more of this color. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend.

Party Time!

Headboard Chalk Board DIY #2

Hello. What a productive week I'm having, being home with the kids for spring break. I could get used to this. I love having time during the day to work on my projects and posts. I am envious of those that can do this full time. Today my youngest helped me tackle this project. You can check out my previous post, on my last headboard project. Here's the final product from last time.

Today we started with this.

Typical vintage double headboard. I really was drawn to the chunky top. Wasn't quite sure what to do with the open bottom?

My little helper wanted to paint too. What a perfect small project to task out.

After another coat and some distressing, I taped off the chalkboard part with Frog Tape. My husband swears by this stuff, never bleeds.

I picked mine up from Home Depot. I use the 1 inch thick tape, it seems to suffice.

I find it much easier to do the outside color and do the black last. I've tried the opposite and I find I do a lot of cutting in after. I'm kinda lazy, and like to cut the least as possible.

I used a 2 inch foam brush the spread the chalkpaint. I use Rustoleum's Chalk Board Paint, easy to apply and dries fast. I should state that neither of the products are paying me for this post, I just want to share the brands that work for me. Here's what the Rustoleum box looks like, Home Depot sells it for $22.97.

The finished product. I love it!

 What a dramatic change.

Hope you like Headboard Chalk Board DIY #2. Don't forget to check out my first post. Thanks for stopping in and take care.

Party Time!

Chic By You Wednesday Link Party #6

Guess what day it is? You guessed it right. Chic By You Wednesday Link Party! I can't wait to see what you've been working on the last week.

Lets start off with features from last week.

These napkins are just so darn cute and easy to whip up before Easter. Check out the how to from Margaret @ chantillycharm.

Mary brought a fresh bright look to this dining room set. I love how it brightens the entire room up. Take a look at the before and afters @ orphans with makeup.
